Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania – Transfer to Hotel in Arusha or Moshi

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by our team and transferred to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi. You’ll meet your professional mountain guides for a detailed briefing, equipment check, and final preparation. This day is reserved for rest after your journey and to adjust to the local climate and time zone. The hotel provides a peaceful environment, ideal to relax and get ready for your trek.

Day 2: Shira Gate (3,400m) to Shira 1 Camp (3,500m)

You’ll drive to Londorossi Gate for park registration, then continue by vehicle to the Shira Gate, located at 3,400 meters. The trek begins with a gentle hike across the Shira Plateau, a high-altitude moorland rich with giant heathers, wildflowers, and expansive views of Kibo Peak. This area is less crowded and offers a quieter beginning to your Kilimanjaro adventure.

Day 3: Shira 1 Camp (3,500m) to Shira 2 Camp (3,850m)

Today’s trek continues across the Shira Plateau, offering stunning views of Mount Meru behind you and Kibo ahead. The trail passes through open alpine heathlands, with chances to see sunbirds, lizards, and other high-altitude wildlife. You’ll gain altitude gradually, helping your body adjust and reducing the risk of altitude sickness.

Day 4: Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower (4,630m) to Barranco Camp (3,960m)

This is one of the most important acclimatization days. You hike up to Lava Tower, a striking volcanic rock formation at 4,630 meters, and then descend to Barranco Camp for the night. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy helps your body adapt to altitude.

Day 5: Barranco Camp (3,960m) to Karanga Camp (4,035m)

After breakfast, you’ll climb the Barranco Wall—a thrilling and memorable part of the trek. Once at the top, you'll enjoy breathtaking views of the Karanga Valley below and glaciers above. The rest of the trail is gentle and rolling.

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,640m)

Today is a shorter but important day. The trail to Barafu Camp is mostly uphill through rocky alpine desert. Rest well at Barafu before your summit attempt, which starts at midnight.

Day 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Mweka Camp (3,100m)

Summit day begins around midnight. After reaching Stella Point and Uhuru Peak for sunrise, descend back to Barafu and then to Mweka Camp.

Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate – Transfer to Hotel

Complete your descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate. After receiving your summit certificate, return to your hotel for relaxation.

Enjoy a relaxed morning and optional activities before airport transfer.
