Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania – Relax at Chemka Hot Springs

Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your Inside Africa Adventure guide will greet you and transfer you to a peaceful lodge. On the way, enjoy a relaxing stop at Chemka Hot Springs—a crystal-clear natural oasis where you can swim, unwind, and enjoy the lush surroundings. After a refreshing dip, head to Arusha Coffee Lodge where you’ll settle in, enjoy a delicious dinner, and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

After breakfast, drive to Marangu Gate (1,860m) where the trek officially begins. Today’s hike takes you through a beautiful tropical rainforest filled with bird calls and the chatter of blue monkeys. The trail is gentle but steady, helping your body ease into the altitude. After a few hours, you’ll reach Mandara Hut (2,700m), nestled in the forest. This is your first night on the mountain and the start of your incredible high-altitude journey.

Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

Leave the rainforest behind as you trek through moorland, where giant lobelias and views of volcanic peaks await. The trail opens up to wide views of Mawenzi and Kibo, the twin summits of Kilimanjaro. This scenic day gradually takes you to Horombo Hut (3,720m), where you’ll spend the night. This longer hike helps your body adapt to the higher elevation and brings you closer to your summit goal.

Day 4: Acclimatization Day – Hike to Mawenzi Ridge

Today is dedicated to acclimatization, which increases your chances of reaching the summit successfully. You’ll take a guided hike up to Mawenzi Ridge, a stunning viewpoint that offers panoramic scenes of Kilimanjaro’s three peaks—Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira. This optional but highly recommended hike allows your body to adjust to the altitude and prepares you for the tougher days ahead. Return to Horombo Hut for the night.

Day 5: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

Rest, hydrate, and have an early dinner to prepare for the midnight ascent to the summit.

Day 6: Summit Day – Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak and Descend to Horombo Hut

The most thrilling day of the trek begins just after midnight. You’ll climb under the stars toward Gilman’s Point (5,685m) and then continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895m)—the highest point in Africa. Watch the sunrise over Mawenzi Peak, a moment that few ever forget. After celebrating and taking summit photos, begin your descent back to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.

Day 7: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate – Return to Arusha

Enjoy a relaxed descent back through the lush rainforest. The sounds of birds and monkeys return as you complete your journey at Marangu Gate. Here, you’ll receive your official summit certificate—a proud reminder of your incredible achievement. Your guide will transfer you back to Arusha Coffee Lodge, where you can relax and reflect on your Kilimanjaro adventure.

Day 8: Departure

After breakfast, your driver will transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home. As your journey comes to an end, you leave with memories, achievements, and stories to last a lifetime.
